About Captain Weeble

Yes — Captain Weeble is a real nickname.

I’ve had occasional bouts of vertigo, and one day while flying radio-controlled airplanes at the field, I got a little dizzy and started to wobble. I didn’t actually fall, but one of my friends laughed and said I looked like a Weeble — “Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down.”

The name stuck, and over time, it’s become part of the fun. It reminds me not to take life too seriously — we all wobble now and then, but it’s the getting back up that makes the stories worth telling.

Our Story

About twenty-five years ago, I had an RV that my kids and I used for weekend getaways, campfires, and plenty of good memories. We covered a lot of miles, learned a few lessons, and spent time the way it should be spent — together.

As life moved on, the kids grew up, work got busier, and eventually the RV went down the road to someone new. But the dream of returning to that slower, simpler kind of travel never really faded. I always figured that one day, when things settled down, I’d hit the road again.

Then along came Mrs. Weeble — proof that the best detours in life don’t always come with road signs. She’s been willing to embrace the RV adventure with me, and honestly, that’s what matters most.

In 2026, we set out looking for our RV. After several false starts, we finally found the right one in Clyde, Ohio. It’s a 24-foot 2026 Jayco Melbourne built on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis — big enough for the two of us and our three dogs, but still small enough for Mrs. Weeble to feel comfortable behind the wheel. The goal is to explore new places, revisit a few old favorites, and share every bit of the journey — the good, the funny, and the “we probably should’ve seen that coming” moments.

The Good News

The good news is — you’re invited to come along.

Through Captain Weeble’s Travels, you’ll not only get to join in on the adventures, but also be part of the planning — the research, the route ideas, the campground finds, and even the occasional debates about where to go next. It’s all part of the fun.

This site is less about me and more about the shared joy of the journey — finding stories, laughter, and maybe a little wisdom wherever the road leads next. Whether we’re on the move or planning the next trip, I’m glad to have you along for the ride.
