Weeble RV Traveling Rules

The Weeble Travel and Driving Rules

Over time, we’ve built a growing collection of lessons learned on the road—some the easy way, and others the hard way. These are the Weeble Rules, written with a mix of humor, hindsight, and a little help from experience. Each rule has a story, and every story started somewhere along the road.

  1. Rule #1: Never plan a perfect trip — plan a flexible one.
  2. Rule #2: No more than 6.5 hours of driving per day — I’m not hauling freight anymore.
  3. Rule #3: If the drive tops 400 miles, we take a rest day. Humans (and RVs) need recovery time.
  4. Rule #4: Never set up camp in the dark.
  5. Rule #5: Always stop when something looks interesting.
  6. Rule #6: Keep the snacks within arm’s reach.
  7. Rule #7: Take more photos than you think you’ll need — the best memories come from the unplanned moments.
  8. Rule #8: When in doubt, ask a local. They always know the best coffee and the quietest campsites.
  9. Rule #9: The day’s drive ends when the fun does.
  10. Rule #10: Keep daily mileage reasonable — comfort beats distance.
  11. Rule #11: Take breaks every couple of hours. Even the best co-pilot needs to stretch.
  12. Rule #12: If the weather looks bad, it probably is — find a safe spot and wait it out.
  13. Rule #13: Never drive past a fuel station when you’re below half a tank in unfamiliar country.
  14. Rule #14: When the GPS disagrees with your gut, trust your gut (and your paper map).
  15. Rule #15: If it’s interesting, we stay longer. After all, the whole point is to enjoy the journey.

We’ll keep adding to these rules as our adventures continue. Every stop, every detour, and every story adds another line to the Weeble wisdom. You can find references to these rules throughout our travel blog entries — each one with its own tale to tell.
